A blog about my common experiences with Final Fantasy Games
So I’ve been playing Final Fantasy 12 a lot lately, and I’ve noticed some trends that always happen to me whenever I play a Final Fantasy game. I thought I would list them and see if anyone else has these experiences when playing an FF title: - I always end up making the storyline main character (I.E. Vaan) of the game my first priority when buying equipment and armor. Because of this, I always end up blowing all of my gil on the main character and leaving the rest of the characters with sub-par armor or no armor at all.
- I always try to assign certain characters specific traits. For instance one character is only physical attack, one character is only black magic, and one character is white magic. However, this never works out in the end, and everyone just ends up being a giant confused mess of both magical and physical attacks.
- The storyline main character is always like 2 or 3 levels higher then everyone else because I over play them.
- One character is always 3-4 levels behind all of the other characters because I forget to play them, and/or I have given them incredibly crappy armor and weapons because I blew all my gil on equipping the storyline main character. As soon as I notice this, I then try to keep putting the far behind character in play in order to increase their level, but when I do this, all of the battle’s end up being structured so that one character does all of the actual attacking, and the other character spends the rest of their time reviving the far behind character because they keep dying because of their low level.
- At some point in the game I have to stop following the story, and just go battle enemies for like 3 hours in order to save up enough gil to buy upgraded armor and weapons, and/or increase the characters levels because I can’t defeat a boss.
- I will be out on a monster killing campaign in order to save up gil, and I’ll easily kill off 5 very powerful enemies, and get lots of money from them. I will then become full of myself and not run back to a save point because I am convinced I can defeat any enemy no problem and I don’t have to worry about saving. My entire party will then be immediately killed by a single creature who I thought was relatively weak, but then I find out has an instant stone spell I hadn’t seen before. I then have to spend another hour getting back to where I was before I died.
I’ve noticed that all of these things seem to happen to me every time I play a Final Fantasy game. Most of them seem my fault though, and not so much a fault of game design. Ah well, maybe I’ll learn some day. -Awesome McCrunchFist For the mean time, here's a vidoe of the Black Mages playing battle music from Final Fantasy VII as posted on YouTube:
