Read my review of Guitar Hero 2
If there are two things that I really enjoy, it’s heavy metal and video games. So what’s the best possible thing that could exist? That’s right, a video game where you get to play heavy metal. And that’s what Guitar Hero 2 brings you and more. The basic concept of the game is this. You have a guitar with buttons on it, and you hit the corresponding buttons as they come down the screen in order to play the song. It’s basically Dance Dance Revolution for rock and rollers. As stated before there are several metal songs available to play on GH2 including Megadeth-Hangar 18 and Iron Maiden-The Trooper. But not all of the songs are metal. However, even with the non-metal songs, I have no complaints. All of the songs that are available to play are songs that are guitar led and guitar heavy (with the exception of Heart Shaped Box, I have no idea why they included a Nirvana song. I don’t exactly think of Nirvana when I think of guitar music I have to admit). The best thing about the game is the controller. Have a guitar shaped controller definitely adds to the experience, and I dare anyone to try to play GH2 and not jump around and rock out like a rock star. From what I’ve played so far, most of the songs are from bands, and there aren’t any guitar virtuoso songs from Steve Vai, or Joe Satriani, or Yngwie Malmsteen. But oh well, maybe in the future. The different difficulty levels work very well in the game to, so that if you aren’t incredibly advanced yet, you can still play Rush’s YYZ on the easy setting. Hard songs don’t only have to be played by expert GH2 gamers. In the end, Guitar Hero 2 is a great game, and a must have for every Metal Gamer. -Awesome McCrunchFist Here’s a video of the Rush song YYZ being played as posted on YouTube:
