Why we Praise the King... King Diamond that is.

What are three of the top things that your parents said would rot your brain?  Heavy Metal, Video Games and Satanism.  What are three of the top coolest things?  That’s right, it’s Heavy Metal, Video Games and Satanism.  And what character embodies all of the above, that we love, and that our parents hate?  That’s right, it’s King Diamond. 

King Diamond, the Danish falsetto screaming singer for the heavy metal bands Mercyful Fate and King Diamond.  On top of being a world renowned heavy metal singer, King Diamond has also gone on record stating that he is a practicing Satanist.  And just when you think a guy can’t get any more awesome, King Diamonds favorite pass times include playing video games and watching NASCAR (you’ve got me on the NASCAR thing).

That’s right folks, what we have here, is a Satanic Metal Maniac who plays video games.  It’s nice to see that artists like King Diamond are still valid in a world filled with whiny Linkin Park, Whiny Evanesence, and a new emo Marilyn Manson.  At least we’ll always have King Diamond to put his balls where his mouth is. 

Who else but King Diamond could bring the wrath of Geraldo Rivera by only viewing his stage show?  Who else but King Diamond would cast a curse on a band he opened for who he didn’t get along with (that band being Manowar… but on another note, I actually LOVE Manowar.  More on that later though)?  Who else but King Diamond could continue to entertain us through the most sinful of pleasures?  And that is why we praise him.

So here’s to you King Diamond, may you always be praised.
