Read my reviews of Orange Box, Half-Life, Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode One, Half-Life2: Episode Two, Portal and Team Fortress 2
This is probably the best deal ever. For the low price of $50 you get 5 games each worth at least $20. And the best part about this deal is that each game in the package is incredibly awesome. We’ll start with the classic game, half-life 2. When this game came out it was revolutionary, and now, 4 years later, it’s still an extremely good title. With top notch graphics, amazing voice acting, addictive varied game play, fun physics puzzles, and more alien zombies then you can shake a stick at, this game is great. The beauty of this game is interaction within the game. With this game, Valve really broke down to the basics of what a video game is about: Interactive entertainment. And then after Half-life 2 comes Half-life 2: episode 1. With this game, Valve decided to do away with the typical expansion pack, and actually expand and continue the story of the game. Valve has gone on record as stating that the episodes are actually Half-Life 3 in mini form. The amount of story development in the games definitely lays testament to this. Episode 1 has the same great graphics as half-life 2, but the added HDR lighting effects, which is great. The key to this game is the story interaction. Almost everything you do and every room you go into has a plot point to it that expands and continues the half-life 2 story. However, where the story is great, the game play lacks slightly. The game is very short (not that you can really complain about that I suppose since it isn’t supposed to be a full length game) and it can get repetitive. Also, the exclusion of any vehicles and repetitive game play does start to wear thin towards the end of the game. And of course after Half-life 2: episode one, comes Half-Life 2: Episode 2. This game pretty much has it all. It may be the best half-life experience out there… well maybe not quite, I’d still say the full half-life 2 game is probably the best experience. But still, this game has it all. I really can’t complain at all about this game what so ever. Everything is honed to perfection. The graphics, sound, gamplay and acting are great. Especially the acting. The acting is some of the best I’ve seen in a game or tv show really. The game is non-stop fast paced action, from the moment you start to the moment the game ends, you’re on your toes, running around, going through plot points, fighting enemies, driving cars, jumping bridges, fighting more zombies. It’s a non-stop thrill ride. Next up is Portal. This is a straight forward fun game. Disguised as a sci-fi story, this game is really a puzzle game at heart. It’s a great idea and it’s excellently performed. The puzzles are fun and they make you think. The only complaint here is that the game is way to short, and the puzzles in the main game are little bit too easy. And finally Team Fortress 2. The art and graphics of this game are great, fun and really original. Other then that there’s not a lot more to say about this game that hasn’t already been said about the original Team Fortress game from Half-life. Team Fortress 2 is basically the exact same game, but with more fun graphics and audio. So… this game is great! It’s really all about the online interaction, and this game has it perfect, and executes it in such a way that even when you die, it’s still fun. -Awesome McCrunchFist Add as favourites (95) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 1789
