Read my review of the new Helloween album.
It’s no secret that I am a big Helloween fan. So when hearing that they were coming out with a new album, I was as excited as a jack o’lantern carver in a pumpkin patch. Anyway, Helloween’s new album “Gambling with the Devil” is great. It’s probably one of their best to be honest with you. Normally I would go into comparing this album to other Helloween albums in the past, but at this point it gets hard to compare. Each of their albums for the last 6 or so years I think have been equally great. And this album goes right along with that. The music on the album is great. Despite the relatively softer, mid-tempo single they have released so far, (As Long As I Fall), this is probably one of their heaviest albums. It’s very guitar centered, with lots of very fast palm muting and power chords. However, in typical power metal fashion, there is a lot of keyboards and some orchestration actually. The music overall is very balanced, and Andi Deris voice really fits well with the music. The lyrics on the album are great, and Helloween keep on impressing me with how shockingly poetic the can be songs. The whole album is a semi-concept album, in the sense that all of the content of the songs have to deal with “Gambling with the Devil” and taking chances. On top of Helloween have decided to hold a special competition. Inside the album is a special scratch of card with a riddle written on it. If you solve the riddle and then send it to Helloween’s website, you can win a free trip to go see Helloween live in South America, which is awesome. Overall, Gambling with the Devil is a great album, and is definitely worth your money. -Awesome McCrunchfist Add as favourites (59) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 350
